The Mudkickers are a Barcelona based trio of three professional jazz musicians, Pablo Lopez on guitar/piano, Pere Loewe on Double bass and Jay Wallis on trumpet/vocals. The band was formed two years ago to principally play and recreate swing music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40`s. Their main influences are, amongst many, the music of Count Basie, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.
The group uses a varied repertoire that revises tunes from the Great American songbook and ‘standards’ from composers such as Duke Ellington, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Using specially written arrangements that intergrate the voice and trumpet with the guitar and bass the Mudkickers create a powerfully swinging acoustic sound that is both exciting and dynamic. A sound and style of music that reflects jazz from the great swing era.
The group currently holds a weekly residency in the Cafe Schilling in the center of Barcelona every Friday.
